Betty Dodson, Ph.d,  affectionatley known as Dr. BAD, is an artist, author, feminist sex educator, and video producer. In all of these disciplines, she’s been an iconoclast. She mastered the classical nude when abstract expressionism was the rage. She was the first woman to have an entire exhibition of erotic art in NYC in 1968. In ’74 she wrote, illustrated and published her first book Liberating Masturbation: A Meditation on Selflove, which became a feminist classic. In ‘87, it was renamed Sex for One, and eventually sold over a million copies. Dodson’s hands-on approach to teaching women about orgasm was refined during the 22 years she ran her nude masturbation Bodysex Groups for women. In 1992 she earned a PhD in clinical sexology based on her unique fieldwork. Dodson has also produced four videos that document her innovative hands-on method of teaching sex.
